![]() My friend ordered the matcha sea salt latte with 100% sugar and boba. I would definitely be interested in trying the other appetizers on the menu.įor my drink, I ordered the purple yam sea salt latte with 50% sugar & boba. Although I felt the calamari was a little too chewy for my liking, I did enjoy it with the sauce. Of the two, the French fries were my favorite. For the appetizer, we ordered the deep fried calamari and the super french fries. I had never tried this cuisine before, so I was really excited. When we left, there was a line of people waiting outside, so I would recommend coming early. My friends and I stopped in around 7 pm on a Friday and originally it was empty but it quickly became packed. So I saw this place on Facebook and really wanted to give it a try. But I know some people are very “allergic” to MSG, they might want to stay away or maybe ask if they can do No MSG. (Something that happens to me when I eat too much MSG) I don’t think that’s a big issue though, just drink more water. It made my mouth very dry the entire night. A side note, I think they use quite a lot of MSG. I would go back if I have Taiwanese hot pot cravings again. I think they used too much ground pork instead of pork belly? I’m not entirely sure. It’s a very basic Taiwanese dish, the texture was a bit wrong. ![]() (White meat is usually used, but could be dry and harder to chew) The braised pork rice was probably the only disappointment. The fact that they used dark meat is a bonus for me. The deep fried chicken cutlet is very crispy and juicy. Personally, I find it not stinky enough, but it’s understandable that they’d want to tone that down to not make the entire restaurant smell like that. I ordered the Stinky Tofu Hot Pot, it was pretty good. ![]() The pot is really just there to keep it boiling hot. All the ingredients come already in the individual pot cooked. However, if you are looking for the kind of hot pot where everything’s raw and you cook it yourself at the table, this is not that. Maybe during happy hour )įirst time here, I’m Taiwanese, so I’ve been looking for Taiwanese style hot pot. Dishes came at a rather slow pace but just perfectly timed so we could enjoy all our food before having the next course without feeling being rushed.Īll of this made an awesome experience i wish i could repeat more often. The service was top notch, great suggestions, not too invasive but just helpful enough to walk us through the choices when asked, fill the water cups when empty. Absolutely loved the pumpkin shaped one, so cute and tasty. The soup dumpling is one of those although very hard to keep intact to get the full experience (sticks to the parchment paper and/or tears easily and lets go of all the soup that is supposed to stay inside). The way they make dumplings is genious for some of them, makes you wonder how they made them. Just a little kick but it still lets me use my sense of taste. Their version of spicy food is on point, to me. Some bold combinations in the dumplings make it interesting and most hit good. Some disappointment in some items that are not bad at all but have a taste of "i could have done better at home", they just use good ingredients and/or present it better the dumplings are good, nothing exceptional but you can see they are not bought at the frozen section of an asian store. As other people stated it is highly overpriced for the tiny quantity of food you get.
